Gangster!2p!America x Reader-Safe Ch.2

Is it too early to call him? What if he thinks your desperate? He wouldn’t be wrong. Slumping into your couch, you placed the piece of paper right next to your phone. They were sitting on the coffee table in front of you and you couldn’t make a quick decision. You’ve been contemplating for about two hours and that’s two hours spent of your day off. Bringing up your knees to your chest, you groaned for how you were acting. You’re an adult and if you want to date him, go for it! Do it! He was giving you signs that he liked you. Or did he just give you his number because he thought you’d be easy to sleep with? Sh*t, you can never tell these days. Well, you couldn’t tell no matter what. Dating wasn’t your usual thing.

Screw it, you’re going to be a rebel and go against dating rules of waiting a couple days before calling them.

Picking up your phone, you looked at the piece of paper and started typing the exact numbers. Once they were all in, you sighed and waited for a little more courage. You can do this! Pressing the call button, you placed it near your ear and patiently waited for him to pick up. Standing up, you paced your living room and walked over to look out the window. The apartment was decent sized and at least the view was tolerable. You only had to get used to the constant noise that was the city. Then he picked up.

“Who’s this?” He said.

“Al?” You smiled.

“Depends who’s asking…”

“(F/n). Hope you haven’t forgotten me…” You blushed. Why’d you say that!?

“Don’t worry, Doll. I could never do that.” His tone extremely flirtatious. “I just have to make sure it’s not some undercover cop.”

“Is your life usually like that?” You sat back down onto your couch. A part of you was sad that he had to live like that, but he was in a gang. Still, you felt like he deserved a better lifestyle.

“Yeah, you get used to it though.” He sighed. “But besides that, you called me?”

“Oh, right! Well, you see…I, uh…called you because I wanted to—” God, this was so hard to hear and you couldn’t make yourself stop.

“Are you asking me on a date?” Al came to the rescue.

“Yes! Exactly.” You sighed happily. “Sorry, I’m just not good with this stuff.”

“I think it’s cute.” Al chuckled. “Sure, Doll, I’ll pick you up in…how does an hour and a half sound? I just really want to see that gorgeous face again.”

“That sounds perfect! See you then!” You began to stand on top of your couch. Once he said his farewell, you hanged up and started smiling like a madman. Right away you began to squeal and jump up and down on your couch. This moment almost made you feel like a teenager again.

Moving to this new city for work has been great! Already, you have a date who could hopefully turn into a boyfriend! Not to mention that working as a nurse hasn’t been too bad and the neighbors at your apartment complex aren’t too crazy. Some are normal. Jumping off the couch, you ran into your room and opened the closet door. Now it’s time to look for a perfect outfit! Gliding your fingers over all your dresses, you wanted to find something casual, but also something that would catch his eyes. Something cute. You only had an hour and half to get ready and it’s going to be spent by looking for a dress. Then your eyes landed on a (f/c) dress near the middle.

It's subtle yet it can still show everyone in the room the right way to perceive you. Casual and elegant at the same time. No wonder is costed so much. Shaking your head, you didn’t have time to think about that. Pulling it off its hook, you threw it on your bed and immediately started stripping away your clothes. Once all article of clothes touched the ground, the dress was slipped on and zipped up. Hurrying over to your vanity mirror set, you sat down and opened a drawer that contained your make-up. Getting out all the colors that went with your dress, you were already formulating a look inside your mind. Even though you were rushed and time was slowly running out, the look came off great and you felt confident.

Time for hair. Opening another drawer, you started to brush your hair and make sure all the tangles went away. Luckily, you had a bottle of cream for your hair already out. It helped keep all the frizz and stray hairs down. The more progress you made, the more exciting it got. Checking the clock, you had fifteen minutes left and you spent that by going to the bathroom, spraying perfume on, and finding matching flats. Walking up in front of a mirror, you did a little twirl and felt like a magazine model. Surprisingly enough, your fashion senses were on point today.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

“He’s here!” You felt your heart beat faster. It’s happening!

Running over to the door, you patted down your hair first before opening up the door to see him looking nice as well. Yesterday it was more obvious that he wasn’t in a good crowd, but today he could blend in. Was he doing that so no cops would find him? No, it’s for the date! Obviously…right? Smiling awkwardly at him, you started to wonder in your head if you should have put on jewelry. The normal earrings you wear aren’t the best, but at least they work out with your outfit.

“D*mn Doll, I can’t punch every guy who tries to flirt with you.” He grinned and you blushed.

“I doubt any guy will look at me.” You smiled and stepped out of your apartment.

“I’m looking at you,” Al said before slowly wrapping his arm around your waist. Inside, you wanted to faint. It’s not every day a hot guy is into you.

Going down the flight of stairs, the both of you wanted to get a small little food like ice cream. Al mainly had the day planned out with food and Central Park.  Walking down the street, you felt a few eyes on you which you weren’t used to. Al seemed to notice it since his grip around you tightened. His eyes got a bit darker and he looked dangerous. You still trusted him. Arriving at your first destination, Al order a vegan ice cream while you ordered your usual favorite. You weren’t comfortable switching things up, instead you liked to play it safe. Going out with Al and asking him out was way out of your comfort zone, but you’re glad you took the risk. But you certainly weren’t planning to do something like that again.

“Vegan ice cream?” You asked as the both of you sat in the corner of the parlor. You figured that a little conversation wouldn’t hurt and besides, you wanted to genuinely get to know him.

“It’s a surprise to some people, but I’m vegan.” Al grinned and dug his spoon deep into the cold dessert.

“I think that’s cool,” You stated while licking the corners of your melting ice cream. You hated it when it would just dribble down the cone and get your hands sticky. “So Al, is that short for something?”

“Well sh*t, I thought I could get away with it.” He sighed which made you giggle. “It’s short for Allen. But don’t call me that, sounds to formal.”

“Would it ruin your street cred if I did?” You smirked.

“Frankly Doll, it would.” He scoffed with an amused look on his face. He didn’t mention it in fear of ruining it, but you were actually opening up to him. Finally, actual words and normal sentences were leaving your mouth!

Swinging your feet below the table, you just felt so happy. Being near Al and ice cream is just amazing. It should never be taken for granted. Eating the last bit of your cone, Al was already scraping the bottom of his cup that only had melted ice cream left. Grabbing a napkin to wipe your hands, you still wanted to get your hands properly washed. Al felt the same and the both of you went into separate bathrooms to clean up. While scrubbing your hands, you looked up at the mirror and smiled at your appearance. It was a weird habit of yours to always look at yourself when washing your hands. It’s like you always had to say ‘hello’ to your reflection.

Walking out of the bathroom, you grinned to see Allen waiting for you. Linking arms with him, the two of you started walking towards Central Park. It’s not like you were familiar with the area so Al was leading the way for you. The two of you were casually talking like normal and getting to know each other. Everything was running so smoothly for a first date. It gave you that kind of feeling deep down that Al was someone special. That was one of the reasons you wouldn’t stop smiling at him. It wouldn’t go away until he suddenly stopped in the middle of a crowded side walk.

“What’s wrong? Al?” You arched a brow at him and saw his strong gaze at something.

Following where his eyes were staring at, you saw a muscular man with an interesting look for his facial hair. There was nothing remotely special about him. His head was bald, he wore a stained white tank top with a leather vest over it, plenty tattoos covering his body and…that’s when you saw it. On his left arm, there was a sleeve tattoo except it abruptly ended at his wrist. The rest of the tattoo was in color while that noticeable one was just in black. A pitchfork with a slash over it. Glancing back at Al’s face, he looked a little nervous. He swallowed hard before taking your hand and keeping a firm hold on it.

“F*ck, f*ck, f*ck, f*ck, f*ck! We’re taking a different route,” Al spoke worriedly.

“Where are we going?” You questioned. Was there a change in plans?

“To Central Park of course! I just know a quicker route is all!” Al shoved his way through the people and made it to a crosswalk. He was lightly panting and went over to smash the crossing button repeatedly.

“We’ll cross soon…” You mumbled.

“Not soon enough,” He growled just as the light let everyone walk. “Let’s go! Quick!”

“O-Okay!” You acquiesced. Running in flats wasn’t easy for you which made you worried if your feet would just slip out of them. Al looked like he wouldn’t stop any time soon.

Al began to slow down at last and finally stopped once the two of you were crossing a bridge. He sighed heavily and the both of you went to find a bench. Plopping your body down beside him, your throat felt dry and your lungs were finally getting a break.

“Exercising as a couple is fun, right?” Al laughed.

“I mean…maybe for a different couple,” You admitted. The both of you smiled happily and rested, finally calming down after that sudden run. “So, what was that all about?”

“What do you mean?” Al avoided looking at you.

“That man, he’s in your gang?” You tilted your head.

“Doll, you’re more beautiful by the second. Do you want flowers? Anything at all for you that I could buy?” Al placed his hand on yours in hopes to cajole you into forgetting the original subject.

“How much for the truth?”

“D*mn it, fine.” He grunted. Al looked around the area while rubbing his hands together. You guys were practically alone at the moment which was what he was looking for. He sighed and said in a low voice, “He’s in the same gang, same tattoo. Didn’t expect to see him around here though. He’s dangerous only if you test him. Other than that, he makes the gang seem like a family. I would love for you to meet them if they were trustworthy and not criminals.”

“They sound fun,” You commented.

Light wind passed through the park, making Al’s short hair move gently with the breeze. Staring at him with a sympathetic look, he hadn’t bothered to reply. Instead, he just stayed silent and was lost in his own thoughts. Clutching on to the bottom of the bench, you didn’t know exactly what to do. It seemed like this whole gang lifestyle had consumed him. Any Slasher guy could be in this park and what would they do if they saw Al? What is he so nervous about? You would’ve imagined there was silent respect around the members and that they wouldn’t talk out in the open.

“I was nineteen when I got into the gang…” Al revealed. “I was on my own and not doing so well. Joining almost saved me…besides the fact that I could die any day and get arrested.” He subconsciously tugged his jacket sleeve on his left arm.

“Is that any way to live?” You frowned.

“It’s how I got to live.” He shrugged and turned to you with a faint smile.

Nodding your head, it may have appeared to Allen that you understood. It wasn’t anything like that though. You understood a bit on why he joined the gang, but after a while, why is he still with them? Biting your bottom lip, you wanted Al to think you were okay with everything. It just bothers you that he has to avoid other members in broad daylight for some reason, can get killed any day, and can have his life ruined by getting arrested. Any day it could happen, but you didn’t want him to get caught or hurt. Al didn’t hesitate to switch the conversation around and pick up the mood.

It was better to go along with the new topic and forget the old one. A distraction was what you needed. And for the rest of the date, you enjoyed your time with Al. Every moment of it was fantastic. It was just bugging you a bit about how he had to tense up around cops and change his route whenever he saw a Slasher in the distance. When he took you back home, he started talking about yesterday and where you were. Apparently, you lived fifteen minutes away from the famous Slash street. That was pretty close now that you think about it.

“You mean, I live a couple streets away from that place? So I wasn’t too lost?” You asked.

“No, you were lost, Dollface. And it was lucky that I found you before it got too bad.” He smirked. “But you’re right. You pretty much live around gang territory.”

“Oh…I live around it? That’s fun,” You said with sarcasm as you unlocked your apartment.

“Don’t worry, nothing is going to happen to you. I’m sure you’ll be safe.” Al grinned.

“With you, I am.” You smiled sweetly as he leaned down to kiss your lips. Feeling your heart go light, your face was burning by the time he pulled away.

“Later, (F/n).” He waved and headed down the stairs.

“Bye…” You watched him go down until his cute little cowlick couldn’t be seen.
